CIPA offers the following types of membership:
Active ($50/year):
Any individual who has completed a paralegal/legal assistant certificate program or who has graduated from a bachelor’s degree program which included a legal studies program for paralegal/legal assistants.
Any individual who has a minimum of six months of in-house training as a paralegal/legal assistant, whose attorney-employer attests that such person is qualified as a paralegal/legal assistant.
Any individual who has successfully completed the Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) examination of NALA.

Student ($35/year):
Those individuals who are full-time or part-time students in good standing in any university, college, junior college or other school pursuing a course of studies as a paralegal/legal assistant.
Associate ($40/year):
Those members of bar Associations endorsing the paralegal/legal assistant concept or involved in the promotion of the paralegal/legal assistant profession.
Those members of the educational field endorsing the paralegal/legal assistant concept or involved in the promotion of the paralegal/legal assistant profession.
Sustaining ($40/year):
Those individuals who are interested in the paralegal/legal assistant profession but who are not directly involved in the promotion of such profession as outlined in Article IV, Section 4.5.
